The Extent of Wesley an Methodism
At the sitting of the Wesleyan Conference in London, the Rev W. J. Greaves presented the annual schedule showing the state of the Wesleyan Methodist districts in Great Britain at the close of the year. It showed a total membership of 413,163, with I 28,573 on trial. There is an increase lin seventeen districts of 2148, and a decrease in eighteen districts of 2927. The largest increase is 393 in the Birmingham and Shrewsbury district ; the largest decrease, 467, in Halifax £nd Bradford. Each of the London districts shows an increase. First London, 67 ; second London 227 ; third London, 194. The following figures are significant :— New members fully received during the year, 45,230 ; received from other circuits, 9,413; removed to other circuits, 22,425 ; deaths, 5373 ; ceased to be members, 27,135. Net decrease of members, 779.
