The cricket match, Australians versus South of England, was continued to-day at Brighton. The Home team resumed th«ir first innings, but failed to make an effective stand, tho inn.ngs closed for 1 39 runs. Being in a minority of 83, the Englishmen had to follow on, and were much more successful than in the preceding innings. When the stumps were drawn for the day, they had compiled 245 runs for the loss of six wickets. The match was therefore drawn. H. W. Read was the principal scorer, playing a splendid innings for 10*2 (not out).
