JS'apieb, August 30.

Fifteen Salvationist* were charged today for a breach of the anti proeeswien by»law ; fined 5i and costs, or 4 s hoars. In the course of the ease one defendant said. "The Devil made laws, and Magistrate's fired the balls." The Salvationist was odered down fcr contempt, but before the rising of the ceurt apologised, and was let off. Several defendants elected to take it out in gaol. On the court rising, the Salvationist*, who had marched with music and banners to the court, again marched and knelt down in the streets, showing their, contempt of the decision of the R.M.

A fire broke out in the premises of H. Fielder, furniture dealer, this afternoon. The fire was extiagaishei before the building was much damaged. The insurance is believed to be £300 in the Colonial, but Fielder estimates his loss at £600 above that sum.
