There was a large attendance, but heavy rain fell at intervals, The wicket was heavy. The visitors went in firsthand were all disposed of for 119. When the •tumps were drawn for the day the Englishmen had. lost three wickets for 22 runs. Augurt 17. In the cricket match at Cheltenham, the Gloucestershire team in the first innincp scored 74 runs, being 45 behind th« Australians.
