The Palmerston Sports

The Caledonian gathering at Falmerston on Monday next promises to be well attended. We have to particularly mention that the bicycle race will be run from Keeling's corner in Broad street to Sinclair's dividing fence opposite the sports ground. It is expected there will be a number of competitors for this race as the ground chosen for the competition is one of the best procurable in the district. Should the weather be only moderately fine, the sports promise to be an unqualified success. Very great interest is being taken in. them here as well as in Palmer ston and the neighborhood. We understand that the ball in the evening will be a most brilliant affair at which all the beauty and fashion of the district will be present. Mr Isherwood of the Club Hotel has undertaken the catering. '
