The local manager of the National Mo rtgage Agency Company of New Zealand, Limited, reports on the Melbourne grain market as followy .• — Wheat prices are firmly maintained at 3s lOd to 4s 2d per bushel (demanded) ; malting barley (neglected), 3s to 3s 9d ; New Zealand oats (feed sorts) are quoted at 2s 9d to 2s lid, but the market is flat, and prices are dropping. Milling descriptions are rather weaker at 2s lid to 3s ; New Zealand oats, under bond, 2s Id to 2s 2d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, held th ir usual weekly sale of wool this afternoon when an important catalogue, comprising some 5,200 bales was submitted to public bidding, which was of an animated character, prices being firmly maintained, good wools in particular eliciting spirited competition, the tone of the market being generally brisk with an upward tendency. Greasy merinocs sold up to lid, while scoured wools were in better demand than at last week's sales, and fetched as much a 9 18£ d for some lots. The highest price obtained for washed wool was a shilling.
