STEVENS AND GORTON'S STOCK REPORT.
Bulls, December 17. We held a large sale at Palmerston on December 8, and yarded as fine a lot of bullocks as we ghave ever penned in Palmerston, and a few pens of sheep. The bidding, however was not so brisk as we had anticipated for the quality of the cattle offered, though we managed to quit nearly all, and all the sheep excepting one pen. At our Bulls sale on December 15, the entries were not so large as usual, though we offered a very useful lot of well-bred cattle, and, with the exception of seven head, quitted all; we penned five pens of sheep, and sold four. We quote the following prices : — Palmerston sale : Forward bullocks, £5 15/- ; 3 and 4-yr bullocks, £5 2/6 to £5 5/- ; 2£-yr steers, £4 ; 2\ to 3-yr steers, £4 4/- ; 2-yr steers, £3 5/- ; cows and heifers, £3 5/- to £3 12/- ; yearling heifers, 36/- ; fat shorn sheep, 8/- ; 4-tooth wethers, 7/3 ; mixed 2-tooth, 5/8. Bulls sale : 3-yr steers, £4 to £4 6/- j 18-mo and 2-yr steers, £2 17/6; yearling steers, £2 2/6 ; yearlings (mixed), 32/6 to 35/- ; cows and calves, £3; 18-mo (mixed), 37/6 ; fat ewes 6/- to 7/3 ; mixed sheep in wool, 9/-.
