Mr John Stevens' Organ
(Bangitikei Advocate.) The air is full of rumours to the effect that Mr Bussell, of Foxton, has been asked, and has consented, to run a paper in Marton in the interests of Mr John Stevens. It is farther alleged that Mr Russell has been guaranteed against loss by Mr John Stevens, Mr Samuel Gibbons, and Mr Samward Ingram, and that he has been promised the moral support of the Anglican olergyman in Marion.' How will the Marton storekeepers like the prospect of " shelling but" in the interests of Mr Stevens ? How will they like to hare to pay for the blowing of Mr Stevens' trumpet ? Bangitikeans seem to be pretty well satisied with their present representative, Mr Bruce, but, according to rumour, Mr Stevens intends- to have a paper ail to his ♦'own cheek," in order that he may oust Mr Brno* from the position to which he has done so much credit. Truly, the Bangitikei electors must be exceedingly verdant if they, consent very modest young man, Mr John Stevens. For our part, we think that the sooner all this blaster oa the part of Mr John Stevens and his supporters takes practical shape the better, we are prepared to meet them at once. 'When the hurly-burly*s done the guarantors will find how much milk is oontained in the coooahut.
