Feilding Borough Council
A speoial meeting of the Council was held yesterday at noon in the Council Chambers, for the purpose of installing the Major elect, P. x. Letb•ridge, Esq. Present — Councillors Nicholas (in the chair), P. Thomson, Bishop, Eade, and Fowles. The chairman said that the only business to be done was to install th« Mayor. (Mr Lethbridge then 1 made the oustotnary declaration). Th» chairman said' that he was glad to introduce Mr Lethbridge to the chair, and on his own behalf and that&of his fellow CrancilloTS he wM^sjdbsin that they would work harmnnK»nSy together. - The Mayor said that he had no doubt on that point, and referring, to the finawCTsi position of the Bovough* he would endeavor to carry out Ac system of economy which had been adopted by his predecessor. The overdraft was now £514 2s 7d, and every effort would be made to reduce it to avoid having to pay mtereet, >t ■ It was mentioned that the next meeting of the Council would be held on Christmas Eve, and as certain tenders had .then to be opened, .it would be necessary for a quorum of Council* lore to be present although the season made it inoonvenient. . \ " t; " ' ■' -^
