The North Island Railway Loan
[PBB U.IITBD PBESS ASSOCIATION.] Auckland, Oetober 80.
A special meeting of the Chamber ot Commerce was held, re the action of the Oorernment, ia regard to the North Island Trunk Railway. , The million loan resolution was unanimously carried, protesting against the threatened diversion of the lean for general puposes. The following Auckland members were present: — Sir George Grey, Messrs Buckland. Peacock, Thompson, Moss, Hobbs, and Fraser. They repudiated any intention on the part of Parliament to interfere with the .million, loan for the Trunk ]|ne. Mr Mitohelspn sent; a protest by Itelegram against the action of the Government.
