The Political Position

(Special to Chronicle.)

Weilington. August 14! A meeting of the members of the Ooposition was held this morning. There is every reason to believe that a vote of want of confidence will be moved next week. There is a strong feeling against Major Atkinson coming back . to office. It is possible that, either Mr Bryce or Mr Ormond may 'assume the leadership, but if a vete of confidence is moved it is by no means certain that it will be carried. One of the Government supporters has iust assured me that they have a safe majority. If Sir Julius vbgelwere removed the Ministry would oertainly be perfectly safe. .
