OBOTJA V. WANGANUI.
The match between these teams was clayed at Wanganui last Saturday, and resulted in a victory for Wanganui by a goal and a try (7 points) to nil. The Oroua team were much heavier than their opponents and carried almost every scrimmage that was formed^ several times taking the ball right up the field, but they were slow in. following up, and allowed their opponents to pass more frequently than should have been the case. It mast be said, too, that they had some hard luck, as several times they had the ball within a few feet of the goal line bnt were never suecesaful in getting it over. The Wanganni forwards as a whole were light, dribbled fairly, and followed up well, but were rrifher inclined to charge off side. The backs, too, were very smart, and in pasting were much superior to their opponents. The game, which was played in tw* spells of fortyfive minutes, was fairly last and well contested throughout, but in omr opinion the Oroua team were the stronger and we I hope they will prove so in the return match, whjch is to be played about the end of this month. Messrs Marshall and Alexander acted^ as empires for Orona and Wanganui respectively, and although some of their decisions were re* marked upon we are sure, they were strictly impartial.
