Feilding Borough Council

An ordinary meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chambers on Thursday evening last. Present — Cr» Goodbehere, Thompson, Kichardson, Worsfold, Nicholas, Bishop, Fowles and Bartholomew, | In the absence of the Mayor on hit parliamentary duties, Cr Goodbehere , occupied the chair. ' . i-%- , The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. ,■ . . , The report of the Finance Commit* j tee, recommending the payment of ' ordinary accounts to the amount of £115 17s lid was read. The report of the Public Worlte Committee, recommending the pay- . ment of loan accounts to tiie ailofftt of £140 2s 4d was also read. -• l. Both these reports were adopted. The names of 10 defaulting 'ratepayers were drawn for proceeding against at the next sitting of the R.M. Court. Cr Bishop moved and Or Fdwlbs seconded, That Cr Bartholomew^ 'W appointed one of the members of tho Cemetery Committee.— Oarried. ...\ Cr Fowles moved and' Cr Bartholomew seconded, That Cr Worsfold :ho appointed one of the members of tho Library Committee. — Carried. A conversation was held on the Public Library and Beading Room. Cr Nicholas thought it was time some new books were obtained. Cr Fowles pointed out the desirableness of selling some of the old books, periodicals, &c, if this could be done. No resolution, however, was passed en the matter. Cr Richardson called attention to persons filling in water courses with logs, thus doing great damage, to private property by the obstruction of water, and asked if something could be done to put a stop to such a proceeding. The Council agreed that this kind of thing would not be allowed. Cr Richardson moved and Cr Fowles seconded, That the Town Clerk inform Messrs Meehan and Lynch that unless they remove the logs placed by them in a water course in Port street, within seven days, proceedings with be taken against them. — Carried. This concluded the business, and tho Council then adjourned.
