Municipal Election

Nominations to fill the vacancy caused by the involuntary retirement of Mr Gichard from the Borough Council, were made yesterday. Mr W. Hammond, proposed by Sir W. Carthew, seconded by Mr J. C. Thompson. Mr T. W. K. Foster, pro posed by Mr Macarthur, seconded by Mr Beattie, and Mr J. W. Eade proposed by Mr G. W. Fowles, and seconded by Mr S. Goodbehere: As each candidate is well known and respected by a Large circle of friends, we may expect to see unusual interest taken in the election on the polling day. We would urge upon the candidates the desiraleness of their giving public utterance to their views and opinions on municipal matters before the polling day, in order that the ratepayers may be placed in a position to select the bast man. j . ,''■■'■'•■■ i
