-•» The Assessment Gourt for the Borough of Feiiding was held at the Court House at 12 o'clock yesterday, before R. Ward. Esq., B.M. "The following cases, presented by the Town Clerk and Borough Valuer, Mr Hill, were dealt with after the valuer had made the usual declarations : — W. Arnott objected to the valuation of certain, of his properties. Mr Hill declined to accept the objection. His Worship said the objection was informal, as the objector had not personally signed ttie ob j ection. Mr Hill consented to waive the informality, and tfie objections were then stated by Mr Arnott, who said he wanted a reduction on ail the sections, and mentioned the amount of reductions required by him. Mr Arnott was asked a number of questions, but failed to give the court any satisfactory grounds for his objection. Valuation to stand. Mr Bellve, represented by Mr Sandilands. No appearance of objector, arid no evidence. Valuation to stand. A. Eade in two cases, objected to be ratedfor property instead of Mr Knapp, for whom Mr Sandilands appearedj and objected to Mr Knapp Veing rated. *' Owner" to be inserted in both cases. Mr Haybittle objected to being rated as sole owner of certain property, half of which belonged to Mr W. Whisker. Valuation altered as requested. Mr Hill objected to the roll in regard to certain sections, and applied to have the cases altered. There being no opposition in either case, the alterations were made accordingly. _ Dr Johnston objected to being described as owner of section s. 215. Item struck out. Messrs Kirton and Curtis, applied to have fneir names entered for certain sections instead of Dr Johnston. Alteration made accordingly. Mr Lynch objected to being rated instead of Mi* Thomas Meehan. Objection granted. Mr Lyne objected to being rated instead of Mr E. Gtoodbehere. Objection granted. Messrs J. Nathan and Co., objected te beingTated instead of Mr J. Whisker and Mr Cottrell respectively. Objection granted in first case. Mr Cottrell opposed the second case, but the alteration was made, and Mr Cottrell was recommended to obtain legal advice on the subject. . Mr Boots objected to being rated for sections .216 and 217 instead of Mr Knapp. The latter was represented by Mr Sandilands, who objecto Mr Knapp being rated. " Owner" to be inserted. Mr J. C. Thompson objected to being rated, at JE6S instead of £50. No appearance. Valuation to stand. His. Worship spoke to Mr Hill in high appreciation of the manner in which He had discharged his duties as valuer! Considering the size of the district, he said Mr Hill's task must have, been a somewhat difficult one, demanding great tact and ability, and he "had very great pleasure in paying him the compliment of saying that he had done his. duty in a very efficient and . satisfactory 'manner. Mr Hill thaiiked'His Worship, and the court then adjourned.
