The Three Million Loan
The Press Association special cable message regarding: the unfavorable prospects of the New Zealand loan, its probable temporary withdrawal and ultimate reduction in amount, has naturally excited a good deal of comment. The Government have received no advice from Home tending to confirm the information contained in the message referred to, and had the facts been as stated, there is no doubt that the Loan Agents or the Agent-General would have advised the Government of them. So far from the loan having to be postponed or reduced, the Government have every reason to believe that although money is dear in England at present, the full amount of the required loan will be readily obtained at a fair price. .Later. It is understood that it has been decided to issue for the present only the first million of the three million loan. The advertisement calling for tenders within the next few days will probably appear in the London papers to-morrow.
