.» (fbom oub own cobbespondknt.) Bulls, This Day. Mr Baddely, who has been accountant^ in the Bank of New Zealand here, during the last three years, has received a wellmerited promotion. He left by train this morning for Patea. Mr Baddely is succeeded by Mr Read from the Amberley district. The unsettled weather is greatly interfering with shearing operations, but most of the Lower Rangitikei people have decided to postpone shearing till later in the season, when they hope to get more settled weather. Since my last we hare had two additions to our tradesmen, namely Mr Turner, bootmaker, and Mr A. Howse, hairdresser and tobacconist, both ef whom will no doubt receive a fair share of support. At the general meeting of the members of St. Andrew's Church held last week, Mr F. Thorby was elected churchwarden, and Colonel Gorton and Mr .Lyttelton Fitzgerald auditors. The continuous cold wet weather is greatly retarding the growth of exhibits for the spring show next week, but the committee do not think it would be wise to postpone it. It is to be hoped that your florists will send over a larger collection than at previous shows held here, and thus turn the tables on us by taking away a lot of prizes, which by reference to the catalogue will be found well worth the trouble of carriage, &c, An effort is being made to induce the Government to connect the Bulls Telegraph Office direct with Greatford. Tim cost it is stated wonld only be about ton pounds if one of the wires, that passes Bulls were taken up to Greatford. At present the time that telegrams taken to and from Greatford to Bulls in consequence of having to be transmitted through Marton and Wanganui completely neutralises the usefulness of the Greatford office — messages have been known to take two routes in tbeir transmission, and this for less than five miles by direct road is hardly creditable.
