[<IEB UNITED FBESB ASSOCIATION.! Wellington. This Day. Tho topsail schooner Clyde, 73 tons, Captain Sawyers, bound from Foxton to Oamaru with timber, was caught by the full force of tho gale in the straits yesterday morning, when in sight of Cape Pallisor. The main sail was carried away by the sea filling it and tearing it out of tho bolts. The topsai! was also blown away and the boat smashed. The oaptain, on finding some of the stanchions had started, doomed it advisable to make for Wellington. The Enterprise, brigantino, also put in, ■, haviug lost hor top&ail and jib.
