SIR GEORGE GREY FORMS A MINISTRY fPEK UNITED PKEP.H ASSOCIATION.! Wkllingtox, August 22. Mr J. W. Thomson, wUo had been entrusted with the Formation of the new Ministry, waited up»n his Excelleny and stated his inability to do so. The , Governor thereupon sent for Sir George Grey. This Day. It is understood Sir George Grey this morning had an interview with Major j Itkiuson. This afternoon he will have ; a conference with the late Government. The political position according to our recent advices is : — Sir George Grey has been sent for. He has till half past five tn make arrangements. He has proposed to Atkinson a meeting of the four heads of parties. He proposes a large public accounts committee, a committee on the Civil Service, and a few useful measures | not particularized. Atkinson does not aeree, and Grey now proposes to interview sections of the different parties. The general belief is he will form a Ministry of some kind, but not one that will stand longer than a motion of no j confidence can be stared off.
