BEUTBH'S TBLKGBAMB. Adklaidb July 12. An extraordinary meeting of the South Australian Jockey Club was held recently when the Hon. R. C; Baker, chairman, stated that the club could not continue to race now that the totalizator was abolished. A committee was empowered to decide what was the best course to pursue. Two banks here have reduced the rate of interest from six to five per cent, on deposits for twelve months, and to four per cent, for three or six months. Received July 15, 12.30 p.m. Melboubne, This Day. Sir H^nry Loch the Governor elect, is expected to arrive here at 2 p.m. to-day he vessels of the Victorian navy will net as convoys from the heads to Hobson's Bay, and will fire salutes on his Excellency's landing. Telegrams from Tasniaiua report that a severe earthquake was experienced there last evening. The shock was also felt in this colony. A quarantine has been established for vessels arriving from French ports in consequence of the outbreak of cholera at Marseilles and Toulon.
