[PEB UNITED PBKHfI ASSOCIATION.! Timahu, This Day. A fire occurred a little before eight this morning at the Education Board's Book Depot in the Government Build* ings. '■ very thing was destroyed. As the contents were uninsured the probable loss will be £160 worth of the Board's property and about the same of the private property of the secretary. It i* supposed to have originated from the embers of last night's fire. Dunedin, This Day. Henry James Smith was charged at the Police Court to-day with assaulting a man mimed Ward, who had remonstrated frith him while he was beating his wi"e He wasfiued £5 oroue inonli'x' imprisonment, 30s of the Gne to be gfven to Ward. W'ebtpoet. Tim Day. Mr J. McCormuck, while coming down the ICuranui Coal Company's incline yesterday morning, was caught by a loaded truck and killed.
