A poll was taken yesterday upon two questions, No. 1 being whether the burgesses were in favor of a uutaber of unsold town sections, which have been used as a race course, being Crown granted to the borough, with power to lease for 21 years, as a whole for horse racing, cricket, building, or other purposes. No 2— Whether the section, should be made over in perpetuity as a reserve for the use of the Taranaki Jockey Club, Taranaki Agricultural Society and General Recreation Grounds. The result of the poll was— Crown granting to the borough, 270: against. 15. Over 300 Waikato maon'es passed through the town yesterday morning. Dunedin, This Day. At the inquest on the body of Skippington, killed by a truck, a verdict of accidental death was returned. I he Land Board, at their meeting yesterday, granted a rehearing in the Waikaiouati dummyism case. Messrs Green and Clarke, who are averse to the cancellation of the licenses, allege they left the previous meeting on the understanding that the motion for the cancellation had been lost.
