The Ball To-night.
Terpsichoreans will of course not forget the ball to be given to-night by. the .' Manchester Rifles' band, assisted by the Makino string band, in aid of the unforunate bushman, John Wells. We believe the musicians and the other caterers for the intertainmenfc have been sparing no pain* to make the evening a very pleasant One, and the, whole affair such a success as its object deserves. Besides those who wiU repair to the Town Hall for the purpose of dancing, no doubt a charitable disposition will induce many to attend aa. spectators, and we expect Jto see the place well filled. Mr Wells is progressing a* favorably as time will allow, and is bearing the results of his sad acoident with great fortitude, and while not himself solicitous of the friendly aid of his fellow citizens, he most gratefully appreciates the efforts that are being made to meet tbe present necessities of himself and family. _________________
