Oroua County Council.

An ordinary meeting of the above Council was held in the Manchester Road Board's office, Feilding, on Tuesday, the business of which up to the time of our going to press was published ia that day's issue. Present-Councillors Macarthur, (chairman), Sly, Douglas, Linton, Engels, Mcßeth, Walker, and Skerman. Resolved, That tenders be called for the formation aad metalling of that part of Feilding-Kakariki road between Halcombe and Kakariki, tenders to be in before next meeting. Resolved, That tenders be called for the Manchester part of the Stoney Creek road, to be in by next meeting. Resolved, That Mr Armstrong be in«tructed to call for tenders for work on Fitzherbert road, east and west, tenders to be in before the next meeting. Resolved, That Mr Wishow be allowed to fell on Kimbolton road to the boundary of the Otamakapua block at the rate of £2 per acre, and the Council will repay him such expenditure. Cr Skerman moved and Cr Sly seconded, That the wages of the roadmen engaged on the County roads be raised to 7s per day. The motion was lost. The Council then went into committee on the matter of applications for the various * grants under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act. Cr Macarthur moved and Cr Mcßeth seconded, That the total amount of grants be divided among the various Ridings in proportion to the amount of the valuation in each Riding respectively. Cr Engels moved, and Cr Walker seconded, as an amendment, That the grants be apportioned at the rats of £1,000 to each Riding. The amendment beiug put, only two rotes were givea in its favor. The first motioa was then put and carried. Resolved, That Crs Skerman and Walker be appointed to sign the ratebook. Resolved, That the next meeting of the Council be held on Monday, the 23rd inst., at 11.30 a.m. A large number of accounts amounting to a, total of £335 10s 6d were passed for payment. The Council then adjourned.
