Feilding Borough Council.
An ordinary meeting of the Council •was held in the Council Chamber or. Thursday evening. Present— Crs bher■will, Worsfold, and Thompson. CrSherwill was voted to the chair. The re-elected Crs Loudonand Fowles, and the ncv.-ly -elected Cr .Richardson made the usual declaration, and took their seats at the Council table. The minutes of the previous special meeting, and ordinary meeting, were read and confirmed. Some conversation *as held as to the proposed formation of the road along the railway line, and it, was understood that the resolution passed on the subject at a previous meeting was intended to mean that the road, was to be formed to Mr Port's house, instead of Port street only. A letter was road from the proprietors ot the Industrial Gazette, Messrs Edwards and Green, solicitiug an order for advertisements of debentures for the loan. The report of the Finance Committee was rend. Cr Thompson proposed, ond Cr Eichfirdson seconded, : hat the letter of M.ssrs Hdwards and Green re debentures be received. Carried. Proposed by Cr Worsfold, seconded by Cr Thompson, That the report of the Finance Committee be uibpted. — Carried. A petition was presented by Gr Fowles from the burgesses of Port street, complaining that the promise of the Council to give their former petition re the Port ttreet road every consideration, had not been fu filled. Eight signatures were attached to the petition. The petition was received and ordered to lie upon the table for discussion at the' next meeting. Cr London proposed, and Cr Thotnpsou seconded, that all' contracts in future for formation and metalling, be let separately, unless otherwise ordered by the CouneiL — Carried. Some further conversation was held on the subject of the road from Port street to Mr Port's house. Cr Thompson moved, and Cr Richardson seconded, That the Engineer be in- . slructed to prepare plans and specifications for forming and metalling the roadway from Port street to Mr Port's house. — Carried. A discussion was held on the matter of calling for tonders for some of the works recommended by the Public Works Committee. Cr Worsfold proposed, and Cr Fowles secondsd,* That the Engineer call for tenders for the formation and metalling of Campbell, East, and Derby streets, the tenders to be sent in by the 24th inst. — Carried. Resolved, on the motion of Cr Loudon, seconded by Cr Richardson, that the Council meet again on Monday, 24th instant. The Council then adjourned.
