Feilding Borough Council.
The ordinary fortnightly meeting of the Council was held in the Council Chamber on Thursday evening, Present, the Mayor (in the chair) and Crs Sherwill, Rutherford, Worsfold, Lewers, and Thompson. The minutes of the previous adjourned ordinary meeting were read and confirmed. Cr Lewers asked if it wou'd not have met the case to have stated " all the streets formed or in course of formation" Cr Sherwill thought that a specified would be the best. The Mayor said that the committee had considered the matter very careiully^ and had recommended what they thought would be the best arid most practicable to be done. He then moved and Cr Sherwill seconded that the report of the Ranger and Dog Tax Committee as read be. adopted. Cr Lewers suggested that the area might be mado a much smaller one, and thought it would be quite sufficient to compel poople to keep cattle off the roads. With that exception he quite agreed with the report. After some further conversation the motion for the adoption of the report tras carried. A notice of motion by Cr Loudon placed into the hands of Cr Sherwill to the following effect was discussed : — That the engineer be instructed to prepare plans and specifications for the formation of JS ortb street. Cr Rutherford called attention to the resolution of the Council already passed that when the loan was floated the engineer and Public Works Committee "feo ro und and report as to the most urgent works to be done. Cr Sherwill thought there could be no harm in the plans and specifications being . prepared, the Council having to some extent committed itself to do something in the matter of North street. Cr Lewers was of the same opinion. Some conversation ensued, after which the matter dropped. Cr Fowles asked if anything could be done to abate the nuisance of geese obstructing the thoroughfares in certain parts of the borough. The Mayor promised to look into the matter and inform Cr Fowles if anything could be done. Cr Rutherford moved and Cr Fowles seconded, That applications "be at once called for the appointment of a Deputy Registrar of Dogs, and office af Banger. — Carried. Resolved, That the Council meet again on Thursday, August 16th. The Council then adjourned. SPECIAL MEETING. After the ordinary meeting a special meeting of the Council was held for the purpose of making a special rate to pay interest and sinking fund on the £6,000. > he same members of the Council were present. Cr Sherwill moved, and Cr Thompson seconded. That a special rate of Is in the £ on all rateable property within the Borough of Feilding be now struck for the purpose on paying interest and sinking fund on the loan of £6,000, authorised for public works, such rate to be fur the period commencing April Ist, and terminating March 3 1 st, and to be an annually recurring rate in terms of Section 112, of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1876. Carried unanimously. This closed the business.
