The Royal College of Music was ox»ened to-day by the Prince of Wales, in the presence of a large and distinguished assemblage. The proceedings passed of£ ; with great eclat. In the course of his opening address, H.R:H^ took' occasion to thank Sir W. J. Clarke and Sir Thomas Elder, of Australia, for their scholarships to the T'ollege. It is announced that G-. A. McFarren and Arthur S. Sulliv/in, the well-known musicians, and George Grove have been knighted for their services in connection with the Royal College of Music. , • ' Melboubne, This Day.
