Yesterday a young man named Brown, a new arrival in the district, who was felling bush on Mr Taylor's property at Makino, was cutting a piece of wood to be used in making a bunk. He had his foot on the wood to steady it, when from some cause or other the axe fell on his foot. A deep wound was inflicted, the blade of the axe cut-ting about an inch into ihe foot between the toes. Dr Johnston stitched up the gash, and Brown is now doing well.
