Painful Accidents.
♦ A painful accident happened yesterday from the careless use of an axe. A youngster named Phillip Jackson, aged 10 years, a son of Mr Thomas Jackson, of Grey-street, and another lad about the same age, were playiug with an axe, when the latter swung the axe round, and brought it smartly down on the right hand of bis companion, Phillip, nearly severing two fingers ; in fact, when Dr Johnston came to attend to the sufferer he found that the fingers were only hold to the hand by a portion of the skin and muscle. It is doubtful whether the lingers will be saved.
