MANCHESTER ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary monthly meeting o£ the above board was held on Saturday, when there were present — Mr D. H. Macarthur (chairman), Wardens Bartholomew, Loudon. Linton and Fergusson. The minutes of the last meeting having been duly confirmed, the following correspondence was dealt with : — From Mr Mc-Cren, applying to have a road laid off from Makino road throngh the Tokorangi Native Reserve. Telegram from the Minister for Public Works, asking if the Board could spend all the money granted under the Hoads and Bridges Construction Act by the end |of next summer. Also, another telegram stating that the money could not he obtained as asked for. Letter from Mr J. J. Williamson, asking if the Board would be willing to spend £50, £ for £ with the Kiwitea Road Board in forming Shannon's line. Letter from Mr Sicely, Government surveyor, informing the Board that he bad received tbe necessary authority from thc Chief Surveyor, to survey a road on Native land along the left bank of the Rangitikei River, from the "Waitapu Stream to and beyond the Rangitawa Stream near Kakariki. Letter from W. St. John, requesting authority to fell boundary line along section 52 sub-section P. It was resolved, That Mr St. John be informed that this is not a road line. Eesolved, That the Chairman apply to the Government to have the road laid out as applied for by Mr McCrea. Resolved, That Mr Williamson's request re Shannon's line be granted. Resolved, That the Clerk he instructed to write to Mr Sicely to proceed with the survey. Accounts were passed amounting to £229 8s lOd, and the meeting adjourned.
