SWIMMING NOTES.

(From our special correspondent.) Bulls, February 20. The third match of thr Clifton Swimming Cluo is fixed for next Friday. The club has decided to hold this event in the evening as being more convenient for visitors and the general public. The first race is open to all comers and has brought a large number of competitors to nominate, and it now remains to be seen how the handicapper has performed his task, which, by the bye, is not a very | pleasant post to hold. Quarter Mile Handicap, (Open). — A. Cameron, scratch ; Reweti, H., scratch ; Reweti, Hoetini, scratch ; Sexton, 10yds; Tricklington, 10yds; Batten, 20yds; A. Armstrong. 25yds ; G. Worsfold, 25yds ; Christia, 30yds; Stevenson, 30yds ; J. McGuire, 35yds ; Mansel, 35yds ; J. Manning, 40yds ; T. McGregor, 45yds. It is difficult to spot the three winning men, but I should not be surprised to see Cameron well to the front at the finish. The second place, will, I think fall to the lot of either Armstrong or Worsfold, with Christie or Mansell a good third. The three prizes are £1 10s; 15s; 7s 6d, or some article to that value. The second event is to be a 150 yds handicap open to members of the club only. Post entries. This will give defeated members in the first event a " show." A considerable rise took place in the river on Sunday in consequence of the strong east wind melting the snow on the ranges. m ____
