EDUCATION TO ARD.
«. The usual monthly meeting .took place yesterday at Wanganui. Amongst other business the following was transacted : — Beaconsfield: Only one tender received, which was in excess of architect's estimate; fresh tenders to be called for. Warrengate: new school; James A. Johnston (accepted). £194; Richardson and Buddie, £200; J. Crome, £214; Alexander and MeFarlane, £219 10s; W. Bachelor, £232; Bawcett and Burrett, £239. Makino Eoad: J^ew residence; tenders being too high, to be re-adver-tised. Manchester: New school ; no tenders recieved ; to be re-advertised. Upper Ma mo Road.— A letter was read from Mr* Sexton, on behalf of himself and other residents, protesting against tbe proposed school being placed in Stanway village, wbich at present had not a single house in it, and offering, if tlie Board would allow them to elect a Committee, to provide a suitable and convenient site. — Messrs Snelson| and Sanson, and Sir William Fax were appointed a Committee to inquire into the; boundaries of the district, and comparative merits of'the sites. The Secretary reported that a notification of failure to elect a Committee had been received in the case df Ftilding On the motion of Mr Notman, the Secretary was instructed to ca 1 a fresh meeting, and fix the hour at 8 p m.
