A NARROW ESCAPE FROM FIRE.

The dwelling houses of Mr Daw, Hob-son-street, and VI r i larke, Denbigh-street, had a very narrow escape from being burnt down this morning. Some careless person having set fire to the dry grass and scrub surrounding the premises, the flames rapidly spread, and but for the good fortune that Mr Daw happened to discover the danger just in time, and that several willing workers rushed to his assistance, and also that of Mr Clarke, and that water was thrown upon the devouring element, these two substantial residences would inevitably have been destroyed. It is doubly fortunate that the fire did not happen in tffe night, or the cjnsequenoes to life as well as property might have been serious.
