BUSH FIRES AT AUCKLAND.
ONE LIFE LOST. [PEE UKirED PBEBS ASSOCIATION.] j Auckland, This Day. There have been extensive bush fires in the north. They are alleged to have been originated by Maoris and tramps for gum-digging purposes. Some settlers' houses have been burned down. The damage is estimated at £20,000. A valuable Government bush is destroyed. The Union Sash and Door Company, Brown and Campbell, and others are heavy losers. By one of these fires a daughter of Vincent Tolkof lost her life.
