SCHOOL PICNIC.
On Monday afternoon the scholars attending the Feilding pablic school as - ■semhled at the schooihouse, and marched to the Oval for the purpose of celebrating their annual picnic. It is nee dess to say there was a good attendance, and .that tbe youngsters enjoyed themselves to their hearts' content. Various games and amusements were indulged in, including numerous races for the large quantity of playthings, toys, &c., which had been purchased for the purpose. There was the usual and indispensable concomitant of a school treat, viz., a hearty regalement of tea, bread and butter, and plum cake, for the due appreciation of which it was evident that all were well prepared. After the internal requirements of the little ones had been satisfied, the teachers and a few friends p-irtook of lea together. Before leaving the ground the scholars gave three ringing cheers respectively for Mr aud Mrs Dowling, the rest of tbe teachers, and the Chairman and Committee of the school. Mr Dowling reminded them to be all present at the re-opening of the school next morning, and then humorously asked .them to give tlire-j good cheers for themselves, which call was lustily responded to by all present.
