CO-OPERATIVE MEETING.

As previously advertised, a meeting was held in Mr Lyne's store, Denbigh* street, on Thursday evening last, for the purpose of taking into consideration thp desirableness of forming a Co»qperatiye Society for carrying on the business of store-keeping. Mr L. A. GaldweU was ' voted to the chair, and called upon'Mr Lucas, who spoke of the desirableness x>f . a Co-operative Company -being formed» and gave some of his experience in the working of similar institutions at Home. Several other persons spoke in faYor#f the proposed movement, and it was unariimousty resolved, on the motion of Mr Lyne, seconded by Mr Wilkinson, that this meeting considers it highly desirable. that a Co-operative Store Company for Feilding be formed, and pledged itself to do all in its power to further and support such a movement. There being a somewhat limited attend* ance, which was considered to be .-inconsequence of the Fancy Fair being held.it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Arnott, that the meeting adjourn until Thursday next, the 18th inst., at 8 p.m. Resolved, That the Chairman apply* tjfi the School Committee for the use of ihe School-house, for the purpose of holding the next meeting, and that the meeting be duly advertised in the Feilding Stab. After a vote of thanks to the Chairman, the meeting adjourned.
