'-"I: Cr Gray presented a petition signed by 46 ratepayers in the Foxton Highway District, requesting that that district should be merged into the County Conn* cil. If was resolved that the petition be received. Cr Kry proposed, and Cr McLennan seconded, "That tenders be called for keepins in repair the roads in the Taonui Riding." Proposed by Cr Sanson, seconded by Cr McLennan-"That the tenders for col» lecting dog tax in the followiagridiags be accepted, viz, Taonui — Graff, £18 ; Kawakawa, Ellerm, £20 ; Horowhenui — A. Knocks, £10 ; Manchester— EUerm, £18 ; Awahou— Ellerm. £7; and that^fresh. tenders be called for Oroua and Kawakawa." ' "■ Proposed by Cr Sanson, seconded by Cr Kockstrow— " That the resolution passed at a meeting of this Council held on 27th November, 1878, giving permission to the Foxton and Sanson Pail way Compuny to construct a railway from Carnarvon junction to 1 Sanson; be rescinded, with a view of the Council proceeding to construct a tramway on, the line of the road referred to in the said resolution." ■ i The Council adjourned at 3 o'clock tilt next meeting. > .
