Cement has been successfully made at the Ferntown works, and tests have proved highly satisfactory. Wellington, This Day. The ship Lady Jocelyn, from London, arrived in the harbor this morning. Immediately on arrival the police were informed that a robbery had been committed on board. It appears that shortly after Captain Jenkins died, some person or persons entered his cabin and enrried off about £30. There is no clue to the perpetrators, but the police are using every endeavor to capture the thief. Auckland, This Day. Owing to fresh evidence obtained against Priestly and Mrs Hamilton respecting the charge of wilful murder of Hamilton, the case is not expected to be gone into (.t the Police Court till after the holidays. The City Council yesternight raised the Mayor's arlary from £250 to £400, town clerk's salary was increased to £500, and the engineer's to £600. Six hundred bushmen arrived here on Thursday last for the holidays. Patea, This Day. At the land sale, 39 cash sections (about 3,000 acres), realised L7.568, and 14 deferred payment sections (about 2,000 acres) L3.305. The highest price given was for section 20, block 4, Carlyle suburban, £9 5s per acre.
