Subscriptions for for relief of the sufferers by the recent Australasian mine disaster at Creswick, now amount to £14,750. An extensive fire occurred this morning at the premises of Messrs Hemons, Lewis, aud Co., wholesale chemists, 55 and 57 i-.us.scll street, Melbourne. The exfent of the damage is not yet conc'usivtdy known, out the loss is believed to be very heavy. Later. Thc loss occasioned by fire at Hemons, Lewis and Co.'s premises, Russell-street, is estimated at fully £11,000. The principal insurance companies are interested to the extent of £1,000 each. A fresh outbreak of water occurred today in the Australasan mine at Creswick. Six men, who were at work under ground at the time escaped, however, with considerable difficult. Mauritius advices to Dec. 6th, report that at that date shipments were ready ;is follows : Dunedin, 2'jO tons of sugar; Lyttelton, 150 tons. Sydney, Dec 21. The last of the elections to the New South Wales Parliament was concluded to-day. The Parkes Ministry are in a minority of 75. It is believed that the Government will resign.
