Telegrams are to hand announcing that arrangements for the rein-statement of Cetewayo as King of the Zulu tribes have been completed. Accompanied by British officers and escorted hy a strong detachment of British troops, Cetewayo setout for his capital at Pieteruiaritzburg to-day. Per Merchant Shipping and Underwriters' Association: Tlie barque Asterope bound from London to Melbourne, has run into Plymouth, having suffered damage from collision with another vessel. Intelligence is to hand that a severe storm has been experienced at St. Johns, on the Newfoundland coast. The gale raged for fully two clays, and resulted in thirty fire wrecks nnd some loss of life. There are now unmistakeable signs of distress in Ireland owing to the failure of the potato crops. Hundreds of the poorer classes are already suffering from great destitution, and it is feared the distress will increase. Paris, December 22. Krapotkine, one of tlie leaders of the Socialist movement, has been arrested at Lyons and is now detained in prison. (
