A.0.F., COURT LOYAL FEILDING, NO. 5768.

A. summoned meeting of the Court was held on Wednesday last for the nomination of officers for the ensuing term. There was a fair atten :ance of members. .After the principal business was concluded, Bro. T. W. K. Foster, P.CR., . the Secretary of the Court, gave an interesting and instructive essay un benefit societies, dating from the Greek and Athenian history, Anglo« Saxon Gui ds, and other societies down to the two great gigantic societies of the present time — the M.U.1.0.F., and A.O.F. The essay was listened to with great attention. Bro. Foster gave some useful statistics of the progress of the Order. The progress made during the past five years, ended on December, 1881, was really marvellous. From a table read by Bro Foster we learn — Increase of new Courts, 173; benefit members, 42,493; honorary members, 1,847 ; Court funds, ;£498,366 ; district funds, £5 1,899. The total value of the Order reaches the large amount of £3,05<>,425. The total number of benefit members is 563,909 ; total honorary members, 13,224, making a grand total of 577,133. There are 20 peers, 12 sons of Peers &c, C Bishops, •20 Baronets, 6 Judges, 11 Knights, and 205 Members of Parliament honorary members of the Order of Foresters. In conclusion, a cordial vote of thanks was passed with acclamation to Bro. Foster for his interesting essay.
