BAZAAR AT PALMERSTON.
-* The Baz.-iar in aid of the Building Fund of the new Wesleyan Church, Palmerston, commenced on Wednesday afternoon last, in the Foresters' Hall, and continued on Thursday. Mr Vivian, in a very neat address, spoke of the origin and object of the movement, and declared the bazaar duly open. There was a grand display of goods, which, we were informed, had been collected entirely hy the ladies of the congregation. The total value of the articles was estimated at from £250 to £300. The ladies who kept the fancy goods' stalls were = Mesdames Vivian j J. Mowlem, Cartey, Hoe, E. Marsh, Lovelock, McLennan, F. Mowlem, and Miss Austin. Mrs Grace and Miss Poad kept the flower stall, while Mesdames Feasey and Kibblewhite had charge of the refreshment room. 'I he Misses Van Renan had a monster Christmas Tree on the stage. Where everything was so excellent, it would be out of place to make invidious distinctions, but we may mention that the book stall, superintended by Mr Grace, contained about £60 worth of books, &c, which had heen sent out from England by the friends of the Rev S. Griffiths, while the Sunday School stall supplied entirely by the children, was one of the principal features oF at! raetion. In the evening there were numerous amusements, including music, a peepshow, magic lantern, museum, &c. , &c. As we left, visitors were .numerous, the sale of goods was going on briskly, and everything gave promise of the affair being a great success. The gift auction was conducted by Mr Snelson on Friday evening and was largely patronised. Altogether the affair was a great success, nearly £200 being realised.
