FIRES AT DUNEDIN.

•*> [PEB UNITED PBEBS ASSOCIATION.] Dunedin, This Day. At a quarter to 2 this morning, a fire broke out at the Milton Pottery Works, and by three a greater part of the works were destroyed. The fire apparently originated in the packing room. For some hours the housrs in the vicinity were in peril, and had there been any wind all must bave been destroyed. The only buildings saved were the kilns and a brick builning containing wheels, &c. An immense amount of finished ware in stock, was destroyed. The fire is a very bad thing for Milton. 35 hands hare been thrown out of employment. Suspicions of incendiarism. Insurances — £1,525 with the National, part of which is reinsured with the New Zealand, United, and Victoria offices. A fire occiirnd on lhe sailmaking premises of Thompson and Owen, Castlestreet, last night. Insured in Hamburg Company for £200.
