Gladstone, in reply to a question, stated that it was a fact that the Egyptian Government had applied for the assistance of certain British officers in the conduct of the expedition against the false prophet in Soudan. The Times to-day publishes a telegram stating that the Egyptian Gorernraeut have proposed that Arabi should be allowed to go into exile without being tried, but that the English Government objects this course. The Homeward Australian mails, per s.s. Sorata, which left Melbourne on September 20th, were delivered, via Naples, on the 30th ultimo. Alexandra, November 1.
