OTAHUHU.
The “At Home” held by the Holy Trinity Social Club in the Otahuhu Public Hall; proved a great success. The hall was prettily deco fated for the occasion. Purple and white streamers, balloon and flags formed the decorations., The fish and chip notices were successful)’ hidden with purple paper. Items rendered by Misses Maddigan, McKenzie, Lowler, Heap, Rem Robertshawe and Mr Aver ill added greatly to the enjoyment off the evening. The music for dancing was supplied by Hawthorne's orchestra, while Messrs Monteath, J. Paine. Pearce and A v , Nodwell acted as M.C’s- Much credit was due to the ladties who wore responsible for the decorations of the supper tables. Everything possible was done by the secretary (Mr Monteath) and his committee to make the evening a memorable one to their guests,. Mesßames Todd, Humpphries. Andrew, Kitto, Johnson and Hanton acted as chaperones. Among those present were Misses Moddigan (white and gold georgette). N. Dickey (emerald crepe ,de chine), B. Andrew (pink crepe de chine over white), Hanton (navy silk). Mi, Johnson (pink net over silk), M. Clark (bjr'ack silk ninon over dress). M. Fergy (champagne crepe de chine). A Keys (emerald green jersey silk), E. Wilson (helio silk), D, NicholLs (peacock blua sflk). E. McConaughy (grey silk), G Monteath (rose silk), E. Kitto (grey foulard).
A sacred concert was given by the Otahuhu Municipal Brass Rand in the Public Hal| on Sunday eveninglast. Mr C, K. Kent-Johnston occupied the chair and after apologising for the unavoidable absence of ,His Worship the Mayor, appealed for assistance ifor the band and intimated ffhat if the public showed their /appreciation the concert would be repeated fortnightly The following was the programme : “Vedette” (Alford. anthem “The Earth is the Lord’s” (Smith), song “The Call’’ by Mr Suisted. which was enccyred,brass quiakteffte “’Calm be they Slumbers’” (Bishop.) During the interval the hymns “Dead Kindly Light” and a 'Sun of My Soul” were sung,, and a collection was taken up which amounted to £4 10s. The following; terns were rendered during the second Raff of the programme : Overture “La Ruch D’Qr (Brespoint), vocal duet “Watchman. What of the Night,” by Messirs Suisted and Reader (encored), euphonium solo “Nazareth’ 1 ” (Gounod), March ’‘Old Comrades” (Teike), God Save the King, Before the conclusion of the programme the chairman thanked the audience for their attendance and appreciation and sated that the concert would be repeated in a fortnight’s' ‘time. He also thanked the singers and the pianiste .for th<*ir services, (The audience was large and keenly appreciative, and the band is to be congratulated on the excellence of the programme.
