PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD.
The Papc*toetoe Town Board held its fortnightly meeting on July 23th, Mr Arthur HaiL pre’sid. ing There were also present: Messrs J. Bryant Geo. Smith, S. McCullough. A, U. Timewell, and HC. Ernest (town clerk). Foreman’s Report. The foreman’s report was adopted on tlhe motion of Mr Timewell, seconded by Mr Bryant. A resident, Mr R. Rutledge wrote asking the Board's! intentions re gard.ing thei piping of the ditch along the Carruth Esta|:;e, on Station RcVad- ft was .decided to reply tha)t in similar cases the land owners had contributed towards the 1 cost of same and any filling he wished to make, would have to be in such a manner as to fill the portion of the clitch on the road. Contractor’s Complaint. A further letter was received from Mr PenneL’s solicitors regarding the alleged breach of contract The letter was referred t’o a commi.ti.ee consisting of the chairman a.nd the clerk. Drainage and Roading. The engineer .reported on the drainage of Huia Road. Received. Mr Mulcock presented the nemo, of transfer in connection with the dedication of Peveril Crescent for seal and signature. Mr Timewell moved, and Mr Smith seconded, that the dedication be accepted, and the agreement signed- -Carried. Local Bodies’ Association. An in v Slat ton was received from the secretary of the Auckland Suburban Local. Bodies’ Association for the Board to join the- Association, and rppomt two 'delegates to attend its meetings- Mr Smith moved, second'd by Mr Brya it that the Boat'd join the Association, and that the chairman and Mr Timewel. be delegates to Ihe first mee.-ing--Carriqd. Billiard Saloon License. , ■Messrs Burnside Brothers wrote asking - if the Board would grant a license for a saloon on Station Road, also for permission to erect a blacksmith shop in iron on Coronation Road. Mr McCullough move»,di seconded by Mr Smith, that the Messrs Burnside Bros, be gronted a license for a billiard saloon nr provided by the by-laws.—Carried., The matter of the plans for the forge wr.s referred To the building inspector for a report. Accounts. Accounts amounting to £39 9s Sd were passed for payment.
