PAPATOETOE BOWLENG CLUB. ANNUAL MEETING HELD. The ninth annual moering of the Papatoetee Bowling- Club was held on Monday, July 24, .it St. Georges Church Hull, 'twenty-seven members being present. There were also 7 ladies present representing the Croquet Club. Mr W. T. S. Wilson presided. In submitting the ninth annual report the committee recorded a successful! bu,ti noticed with regrdt that the member-ship had decreased. Tit was ajso observed that a decided improvement had taken place in the standard) of play, especially among the first and second year players, this being attributed to the various competitions during the season. Messrs Galloway. Nettlingham, Rawnslev. and Trimble were victorious in the percentage fours, a competition in which considerable interest had been evinced. Mr H. P. Andrew had won the championship singles and had .also creditably represented the Club at the, Champion of Champions’ game in Auckland, being the first) representative the Club had ever sent.

The handicap singles, which started weil. were, however, overshadowed by the handicap pairs, "he win1, e’s for the latter being Messrs Knight and Cowling.

The Clark medals and Clow ferns were worn by different winners durii.g the season «nd vvtxe also a source of income to the Club

Regarding the Gilmore Cuo, Papatoetoe had been .defeated by Howie k by two goals 'to one. In .the Lambert Cup the Club’s percentage; of wins was 55>, a greater measure of success than had ever beforp been achieved by tihe Club.

The committee also recorded their appreciation of |the gifts of Mr J. Franklin, senr. who donated two Honours Boards to the Club, one for viher bowlers and the .other for the. croquet players, on which had h.-.'ii i: scribed the names of the

champions since the inception ol the Club. A-. ■ result vf the annual social, recently held, the funds of ‘he Club b.'.d bene fitted to .the extent cf £l4. The balance sheet for the year ending June 30th, showed receipts for the year totalling £321, Since jfhe beginning of the year 'the Crib’s overdraft at the bank had been reduced by £32 10s. .The Club's assets totalled £4ll.

Both the report and the balance sheet were adopted. Officers were then elected for the ensuing year as follows: Patron: Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey president Mr W. T S. Wilson; vice-presidents: Mr H. Millington. Dr. E.. W. Bewes; secretary: Mr J. Franklin; treasure ': Mr J. Timble; green snoerintendent: Mr J. Watson; auditor: Mr T. Smytheman: d.elegates to + he Auckland centre: Messrs J. Franklin and J. Vvapson; commtte®, Messrs Nettlingham- Brown, Cutfo r th 15 1 vant, Hunter and Runcitnan.
