NEW ZEALAND CO-OP, DAIRY CO.
NORTH WARD. ELECTION OF DIRECTORS, To Shareholders of the North WardGentlemen.—At the request of several shareholders in different parts of our Ward I have decided to become a candidate for the position of Director. As I consider it advisable that shareholders should have as fii.l knowledge as possible of any candidate they support for the position I therefore submit the following information respecting- myself. I was born ita this district and have carried on the business of a farmer and genersL storekeeper now some 38 years. I served several years on the Mauku Road Board and as Chairman of the Patumahoe School Committee, ajlso five years on the Franklin County Council, and hold the appointment of Justice of :the Peace. As to my commercial! standing and reputation, I refer shareho dors to any of the Auckland leading business firms, Union Bank .and the National Bank of New Zealand. I have a Life experience of dairyfarming and have! been a continuous supplier since the inauguration of the New Zealand Dairy Association. and am at present supplying the Company with the produce of two herds comprising 150 cows. As a local trader in the handling’ of butter and cheese I have experience exttendirg over 38 years. I hold Butter, Casein, Coal and Timber shares more than commensurate with my supply and to the value of six or seven hundred pounds, and have therefore with my fellow suppliers a very direct interest in tho welfare of the business. During the past season I admit sharing in the general discontent with the management, due to insufficient information afforded shareholders, but with the knowledge and information gained through the recent agitation, believe the financial position of the Company to be satisfactory. If returned I should make a point of the shareholders being supplied with regular information of the management and business transactions put through, and woullid recommend that the minutes of the meetings of Directors be supplied to the local press throughout the territory over wich the Company operates, as such means of affording the information would entail no extra expense. I wow'd stand for the minimum of expense, both nn overhead and working costs, commensurate with efficiency, a close and careful investigation and control of all) subsidiary trailing ventures and the elimination of such business as may be of a profitless or risky nature, I hold the suppliers should receive the highest monthly advance payment for their supplies compatible with safety ; and the interests of suop.oers who own and make the business possible should 1)0 my first consideration. as is csseni-irh in true co-oper-ation. If elected my best services will be at. your disposj^. Yours faithfully, JOSEPH HENRY. Candidate.
