TUAKAU BILLIARD SALOON.
CONSIDERABLE REPAIRS NECESSARY.
DRASTIC STEPS TO BE TAKEN
Early in the New Year an application was received by thee Tuakau Town Board from the billiard saloon keeper at Tuakau for a license to conduct the daloon.
Owing to the unsatisfactory state of the old building the granting of a license was deferred pending a report on the structure by tire Health Inspector, At the February meeting of the Board, the report was received (published in the Times) wherein certain repairs were recommended. It was reported by the clerk that arrangements had been made by the owner to have the repairs effected, so that the building would meet with the requireemnts of the Department. At Tuesday’s meeting of the Board it was further reported that so far nothing at all had been done to comply with the requirements. Members were of the opinion that drastic action would have to be taken unless the repairs were undertaken and the building.put in a sanitary condition. Some time had elapsed since the promise to effect the repairs was made, and they were of the opinion that unless drastic steps were enforced nothing would be commneced.
However, it was decided to communicate with the owner. stating that unless the repairs as recommended by the Health Inspector were commenced and proceeded with diligently by March 21st, the license would be be refused and the saloon closed down.
