TUAKAU TOWN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING.
The ordinary 1 monthly meeting of the Tuakau Town Board was held on Tuesday, when there were present : Messrs Dynes Fulton (chairman), Chas. Finch, G. Amvosmith, G. S. Ijipwood, A. Me aland, W. J. Taylor, J. B. Sim, and the clerk (Mr A. H. Tapper.,) M* A. H. Robots, manager of the Tuakau branch of the a'.Z. Dairy Company, asked that repairs he made to •the approach to the factory. He pointed out that the walk was very uneven and that a little grading and a few metal chips wtre necessary.—
The chairman said the work was necessary. Some time ago it was agreed to do it, Mr Roberts to pay halt cost.—On the motion of Messrs Lapwood and Finch it was decided to ask the engineer to inspect to see what was necessary. IHiaH Mutters. Mr Geo. Revell wrote stating that after the recent conference with the Health Officer re hall sanitation, he requested the Board to advise him on the following questions: (1) Does the Board endorse the action of its delegates agreeing [ 0 pay half of the cost of the requited work ; (2) If the Board defrays half the cost would this give the Board any claim on the building or any portion of the buildings ; (3) Is the Board legally right in spending public moneys on private property?—The chairman said that the letter arose over a conference between the, Board. Mr Revell and the District Health Officer relative to sanitary conditions at the hall.—Tire clerk was instiindeed to reply stating that the Board had no intention of spending money on private property for the purpose of
satisfying the requirements of the Public Health Officer.

The Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. W. Massev. in rep'y to the Board’s
letter in connection with the desire of the Town Board to raise a loan of £6250 for the' purpose of erecting a Town Hall and Municipal Chambers- stated that he would personally confer with the Minister in charge of the Insurance Department with a view to seeing whether there was any prospect of the ( Board obtaining a loan from this source, and when he had anything - furl her to report he would again communicate with the Board.—Received.
Building Permits. Permits to erect buildings were granted Messrs B. G. Chapman, D. Anmndale, D. H. Madill (new bone mill), B. Westland, and W. Strahan. Re-Grading Dominion Road. The Board’s engineer, Mr J. Routly, submitted plans and specifications for re-grading'' Dominion Road over the dij) at Mrs Hunter’s To carry out the work would involve earthwork measuring 3790 cubic yards and 20 chains of new filling.—On the motion of the chairman it was decided to meet the engineer and go over the work on Saturday morning with a view of arranging something definite regarding a damp, hollow, which at times became in a bad state for traffic. The question of putting the work on the whole road in hand was deferred for the present. Outstanding Rates. The clerk reported that the outstanding grates amounted to £l6l 6s 5d.. Finance. Accounts amounting to £673 10s 4cl loan account, and £29 5s general account, were submitted for payment.
